OK, today I was challenged to find out more about BEING your Best; I of course googled it first and found a guy named Brian Tracey. Addmittedly I didn't know this person. So, I googled him. What did I find. He's a Big 'Ol Deal in the world of Leadership and Coaching/ Mentoring. Who Knew? He has this sort of Budda quality. I read a bunch of stuff - one thing I found was the following poem. It made me think about how much I want to serve and be excellent and how in doing that, IF my motive is ego related, it really doesn't matter a whole lot. My soul is humbled and at the same time refreshed knowing that I am dispensable and that I'm not in charge of the world.
Make it a Great Day

THE INDISPENSABLE MAN Some time when you’re feeling important
-- From This England’s book of Parlour Poetry
Some time when you ego’s in bloom
Some time when you take it for granted
You’re the best qualified man in the room
Some time when you feel that your going
Would leave an unfillable hole
Just follow these simple instructions
And see how it humbles your soul:
Take a bucket and fill it with water
Dip your hand in it up to your wrist
Pull it out, and the hole that’s remaining
Is a measure of how much you’ll be missed.
You may splash all you like when you enter
You may stir up the water galore
But stop and you’ll find in a moment
That it looks quite the same as before.
The moral of this quaint example
Is to do just the best that you can
Be proud of yourself, but remember
There is no indispensable man!
